Tragedy struck in Vasai, India, when an eight-year-old girl passed away approximately 24 hours after allegedly receiving injections at a local clinic. The child, Mariyam Mohammed Ansari, was taken to Rahul Clinic on Monday evening after experiencing vomiting. The attending doctor, Dhupchand Nishad, reportedly administered injections in addition to prescribing medication.
Mariyam's condition worsened the following morning, and she died shortly after exhibiting bleeding from her nose and mouth. Her distressed parents have voiced strong suspicions that the injections administered by Nishad led to her death. Nishad, who practices electro-homeopathy, is not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council and is therefore not authorized to administer allopathic injections or medicines.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The Waliv police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the doctor. Medical equipment, including a significant quantity of used allopathic injections and medicines, was seized from the clinic during an inspection by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation's health department. The investigation is pending the arrival of the postmortem and viscera reports, which are expected within a week and will be crucial in determining the exact cause of death.
