Vape Mouthpieces: Germ Hotspots Worse Than Toilets

Vape users have been alerted to the significant hygiene risks associated with their devices, as a new study reveals they can become heavily contaminated with bacteria, yeast, and mold in as little as 72 hours. The research, conducted in partnership with a microbiologist, found vape mouthpieces to be substantially dirtier than public toilets, with levels of bacteria like E.Coli, Staphylococcus, and Bacillus escalating rapidly.

Yeast and mold growth were particularly alarming, becoming unmeasurable by the third day of testing. The warm, moist environment of the vape mouthpiece, combined with environmental microbes, creates an ideal breeding ground for germs. This contamination poses a serious health concern, especially if vapes are shared among users.

Health experts warn that sharing vapes increases the risk of transmitting respiratory illnesses such as flu and Covid-19, as well as the herpes simplex virus. To mitigate these risks, regular cleaning of the mouthpiece and device with antibacterial solutions is strongly recommended, with particular attention paid to interchangeable parts.
