Mesh Implant Leaves Mum in Constant Agony
28 Feb
Summary
- Mum-of-three endures constant, disabling pain post-operation.
- 25 women received compensation after operations by one surgeon.
- Health board admits inadequate risk and alternative information.

A mother of three is living with constant, disabling pain after a vaginal mesh implant procedure performed in 2014. Kerry Watson, 40, requires a walking stick and a weekly intake of over 100 tablets to cope with the agony stemming from the operation intended to treat a prolapsed bladder. Her experience highlights a wider issue affecting numerous women.
Watson is one of 25 women who have been compensated following surgeries conducted by a single surgeon in the north Wales region. The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has issued an apology. They admitted that Kerry Watson was not adequately informed about the potential risks and side effects associated with the mesh surgery, nor were the alternative treatment options fully explained to her.
