20 Dec
Summary
- Women with fibroids have over 80% increased risk of heart disease.
- Study followed nearly 450,000 women diagnosed with fibroids.
- Under-40 women with fibroids face over triple the heart disease risk.

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association indicates a substantial connection between uterine fibroids and an elevated risk of heart disease.
The research compared almost 450,000 women diagnosed with uterine fibroids to over 2.25 million women without the condition. Participants, aged 18 to 50, were tracked for nearly a decade.
Findings showed women with fibroids had an 81% greater risk of major cardiovascular disease. This risk was particularly pronounced in women under 40, who experienced more than triple the risk compared to their counterparts without fibroids.
