- Aims to provide early intervention for mental health challenges

As of November 10th, 2025, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh has taken an important step in supporting the mental well-being of the community's children. The hospital has opened a second pediatric behavioral health walk-in clinic in collaboration with UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.
The new clinic, located on the first floor of Children's South, offers a safe and compassionate environment for young patients up to age 18 to receive expert mental health care. Operating Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m., the clinic provides same-day care without an appointment, addressing the growing need for timely access to support.
"Mental health challenges among children and adolescents are rising, and families often struggle to find timely access to care," said Abigail Schlesinger, M.D., clinical chief of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Integrated Care at UPMC Western and UPMC Children's. The new walk-in clinic aims to be an immediate point of access for kids who need support right away, with therapists and psychologists offering behavioral health assessments and one-time interventions, as well as referrals to additional resources.
