29 Aug
Summary
- Separate OPDs established for flu and fever patients across UP districts.
- Hospitals directed to maintain adequate stocks of critical medical supplies.
- Priority care for flood-affected Nepal patients amid stepped-up surveillance.

In response to rising flu and fever cases, Uttar Pradesh is implementing enhanced public health measures. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has mandated the setup of separate Outpatient Departments (OPDs) in districts experiencing a high incidence of these illnesses. This initiative aims to streamline screening, consultation, and treatment, while also alleviating hospital congestion.
Additionally, Pathak directed that individuals from flood-affected regions of Nepal requiring medical attention be provided care with utmost priority. Surveillance efforts have been strengthened in border districts to closely monitor for cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI). The state is ensuring that hospitals are fully equipped, with instructions for adequate stocks of medicines, oxygen, nebulizers, and other vital supplies.
The state has reported a significant number of H1N1 cases, with surveillance officers providing detailed updates on infections across various districts. Gautam Buddh Nagar, Lucknow, Meerut, and Ghaziabad are among the districts with the highest case counts. Hospitals are also preparing to maintain isolation beds for critically ill patients and are instructed to test individuals presenting with breathing difficulties for flu.
Furthermore, officials are emphasizing public health advisories, including the importance of mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and proper cough etiquette for patients and their attendants. The HOPE (Health Online Parameter Evaluation) monitoring system is also being utilized to oversee these preparedness efforts across the state.
