Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak conducted a review of the swine flu situation across the state via video conference on Saturday. He inspected hospital arrangements, including wards and emergency services, expressing concern over conditions in Barabanki, Shravasti, Jhansi, and Gorakhpur.
Pathak emphasized the need for sufficient Oseltamivir (Tamiflu), oxygen, nebulisers, and bronchodilators in all hospitals. He mandated the flu testing of serious patients presenting with breathing difficulties and instructed on monitoring individuals in contact with those infected.
To mitigate the spread and improve patient care, Pathak ordered the establishment of separate OPDs for respiratory complaints in high-incidence districts. Hospitals are also to prepare four to six isolation beds for critical patients and set up distinct registration counters for fever and flu cases.
Special surveillance was also directed for districts bordering Nepal, with instructions to provide immediate medical assistance to patients arriving from Nepal and within Uttar Pradesh.
