Bottled Water Alert: 29 Brands Unsafe for Consumption

In a significant public health announcement, Pakistan's government declared 29 brands of bottled water unsafe for human consumption. The Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) conducted quarterly monitoring, collecting 230 samples from major cities during the second quarter of 2026 (April to June).
The analysis, comparing results against Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) standards, identified contamination issues. Nine brands, including A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water and Aqua Life, exceeded the safe limit of 50 ppm for sodium. Four brands, such as Imperial Pure Drinking Water and Aab-e-Haram, surpassed the 500 ppm limit for total dissolved solids (TDS).
Furthermore, 22 brands, including Mai Sial Bottled Drinking Water and Al Meer Bottled Drinking Water, showed contamination. Another group of brands, including Aqua Pure, Drinkwell Pure Drinking Water, and Zalmi, were found to contain bacteria, rendering them unsafe.
