Uncover Your Diabetes Risk in Minutes with NHS-Backed Tool
16 Nov
Summary
- NHS recommends a quick test to assess type 2 diabetes risk
- Type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health complications if left untreated
- Diabetes can be managed through diet, exercise, or medicines

As of November 16th, 2025, the NHS is strongly recommending that people take a quick test to determine their personal risk of developing type 2 diabetes. While the test cannot provide a definitive diagnosis, the health service has stated that completing this assessment "could be the most important thing you do today."
Type 2 diabetes is a common condition in which the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or the insulin it produces is ineffective. Insulin, produced in the pancreas, is crucial for regulating blood sugar levels, and when it fails to function properly, blood glucose levels can become dangerously high. This can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, including heart disease, kidney disease, stroke, and nerve problems.
While type 1 diabetes, which results from immune system dysfunction, cannot be prevented, type 2 diabetes is avoidable. According to NHS guidance, "You can manage type 2 diabetes with diet and exercise, or medicines." By losing weight and improving one's diet, it may even be possible to prevent type 2 diabetes or put it into remission.
