Smuggled 'Godzilla' Fat Jabs Flood UK Borders
2 Nov
Summary
- Over 10,000 doses of smuggled fat jabs seized this year.
- Fake jabs contain unknown liquids or incorrect dosages.
- Illicit retatrutide makes up 93% of seized weight-loss doses.

More than 10,000 doses of the smuggled "Godzilla" fat jab have been seized at Britain's borders during the first nine months of 2026. This represents a significant increase from only six doses confiscated throughout 2025.
Crime gangs are distributing counterfeit versions of retatrutide, a powerful weight-loss drug still in clinical trials by Eli Lilly and not yet approved for global use. Users in trials have experienced substantial body weight loss.
These illicit jabs are being openly advertised on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, as well as via WhatsApp. Our investigation revealed that fake and unlicensed weight-loss jabs have seen seizures soar from 435 doses in 2025 to 11,228 so far in 2026.
Raids on clandestine factories have also uncovered an additional 68,776 doses since the start of 2025. Laboratory tests on 72 suspect jabs showed 17 contained no active weight-loss drug, meaning individuals were injecting unknown substances. The concentration of retatrutide in other found doses varied significantly, from 6mg to 25mg per ml, leaving users unaware of the actual dose they received. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency advises extreme caution when purchasing medicines online.
