The affected products, identified by batch code HS5130 Jul 2025 395.00 1.98, were found to contain this prohibited substance, which carries potential DNA-damaging effects. Furthermore, the list of ingredients indicated undeclared allergens, including hydroxycitronellal, hexyl cinnamal, and limonene, posing a risk of allergic reactions for sensitive consumers.
As a result of these findings, the shampoo and conditioner set was promptly removed from the online marketplace Amazon. The products were also intercepted and rejected at the UK border. The primary concern driving the ban on Zinc Pyrithione, particularly within the EU, stems from potential risks to reproduction and fertility observed in animal studies.
