Summary
- A UK mother fell seriously ill at Tenerife airport, developing a brain infection.
- She was placed in an induced coma and later diagnosed with meningitis.
- Family is fundraising over £50,000 for a medical evacuation home.

A North Wales mother, Jade Bird, 33, is in a critical condition in a Tenerife hospital after becoming severely unwell at the island's airport last Wednesday. While waiting for her flight home, she developed a headache and earache, which rapidly worsened. Medics subsequently diagnosed a brain infection following a scan, leading to her being placed in an induced coma.
The infection has since progressed to meningitis, leaving her family heartbroken and stranded in another country. Her sister-in-law and mother have flown to Tenerife to be by her side. They are facing a significant challenge in arranging a medical evacuation, with costs estimated between £50,000 and £100,000.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support Jade, who works as a carer, and her family, including her six-year-old daughter who is awaiting her mother's return. The family has already raised over £7,500 but is appealing for further donations to meet the substantial cost of bringing Jade home.
