The Tumbler Ridge Health Centre is extending its operating hours until March 6, offering enhanced support to the community still coping with the aftermath of a recent fatal shooting. The health centre will now be open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, including holidays. This expansion is designed to provide crucial access to care for residents.
Services available include daily drop-in appointments with mental health clinicians, as well as primary and urgent care provided by nurse practitioners. The laboratory and X-ray departments will also operate with extended hours. Emergency department services, however, will maintain their regular weekday schedule.
To further assist residents and healthcare staff, Northern Health is operating a free shuttle service between Tumbler Ridge and Fort St. John. Additional staff have been deployed to ensure continuous coverage at the health centre, a move made possible by significant support from across the province.
