Summary
- Mosquito control workers trained to combat dengue.
- Door-to-door awareness campaigns to be conducted.
- Preventive measures targeted at vacant plots and construction sites.
Ahead of the upcoming northeast monsoon, Trichy corporation has organized an advisory meeting to equip mosquito control workers with essential training and to bolster public awareness regarding dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. The initiative underscores the importance of proactive measures to prevent outbreaks.
During the training session, workers received detailed instructions on conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns across all wards. They are tasked with visiting residential areas, commercial complexes, and construction sites to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. Key breeding sites like discarded containers, old tires, and coconut shells will receive special attention.
Emphasis was placed on intensifying fever surveillance and implementing robust preventive strategies. This includes targeting potential breeding sources in vacant plots, locked houses, and ongoing construction projects. Larvicides are scheduled for application in various water bodies, while strategic fogging operations will be conducted rotationally to manage mosquito populations effectively. The program also aims to prevent other vector-borne illnesses like scrub typhus and leptospirosis.
