A significant surgical achievement at Attappady Taluk Tribal Specialty Hospital has provided a new lease on life for a 69-year-old woman. She had been suffering for approximately 25 years due to a large colonic mesenteric cyst that caused persistent abdominal pain and swelling.
The cyst, measuring an estimated 30 cm by 20 cm, was successfully removed in a complex procedure led by surgeon Mithun K. The medical team, supported by anaesthetists Rahul S. and Varsha P.K., managed to excise the tumor after draining nearly four liters of fluid.
Hospital superintendent Shijin John Aloor emphasized the surgery's success as a testament to the hospital's capabilities in providing specialized healthcare to tribal communities in the Attappady region. The patient is currently in stable condition and under close observation in the post-operative intensive care unit.
