Holiday Toy Alert: Choking, Swallowing Dangers Found

Parents are urged to exercise caution this holiday season as several children's toys and tumblers have been recalled due to significant safety concerns. Recalls announced Thursday include risks of choking, battery swallowing, and magnet ingestion, threatening serious injury or death. Counterfeit toys, in particular, may have less secure battery compartments, increasing the danger.

Specific recalls include over 10,000 KTEBO-branded writing tablets sold on Amazon and Cubimana treehouse building toy sets from Shein, both due to button battery ingestion risks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission noted that improperly secured battery compartments can lead to chemical burns if batteries are swallowed. Additionally, CreateOn Crayola-branded pip-Cubes were recalled because high-powered magnets can become loose, posing a severe threat to a child's digestive system.

Further compounding safety concerns, approximately 17,000 HydroJug 14-ounce Children's Sport Tumblers have been recalled. Over 600 reports indicated that rivets on the handle could detach, presenting a choking hazard for young children. While no injuries have been reported for these specific recalls, authorities also issued a warning about counterfeit 'Lafufus' dolls resembling popular 'Labubus' toys, which could block a child's airway.
