The study, covering 1,447 fatalities from 2013 to 2023, found that the danger escalates once daytime highs exceed 27.1 degrees Celsius. This temperature marks a significant increase in the likelihood of a fatal heatstroke outcome.
Furthermore, the research underscored the crucial role of air conditioning in mitigating heatstroke deaths. At 33 degrees Celsius, individuals without air conditioning faced more than three times the risk of death compared to those using it. This disparity widened dramatically at higher temperatures, with a sevenfold increase in risk for those without AC at 36 degrees Celsius.
