The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care and Advanced Research (SVICCAR) in Tirupati, India, hosted the 16th Annual National Lung Cancer Conference (NALCCON 2025) on November 12-13, 2025. The two-day event, organized by the Indian Society for Study of Lung Cancer, attracted over 300 faculty and delegates from across the country.
The conference featured discussions on the latest advancements in lung cancer treatment, from conventional methods to modern clinical breakthroughs. SVICCAR's Medical Director and Head of Surgical Oncology, Dr. Prasanth Penumadu, revealed that the institute now offers Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery (MITS), a preferred option for lung cancer patients due to better clinical outcomes.
SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.V. Kumar emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and integrating lung cancer care into the MBBS curriculum. The event concluded with an interactive scientific session focusing on innovations in lung cancer prevention, as November is designated as Lung Cancer Awareness month.
