Health officials in Tiruchi have ramped up measures to prevent the spread of dengue. On Saturday, S. Aneesh Sekhar, Director of the National Health Mission, and Tiruchi Corporation Commissioner N. Ponmani conducted inspections in Zone No. 4, focusing on areas like Patthammal Street and Rajarajeshwari Nagar. These checks, also involving the District Health Officer, aimed to assess and bolster ongoing dengue prevention efforts.
During the review, Corporation Commissioner N. Ponmani encouraged residents to seek treatment for dengue at government hospitals, assuring them of adequate medicine supplies. The current drive involves identifying and safely disposing of items that collect stagnant water, such as discarded tires and empty boxes, which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
To further combat the virus, which is transmitted by infected mosquitoes, the corporation is actively engaged in regular fumigation of public spaces within Tiruchi. This comprehensive approach combines public health advisories with direct interventions to control the mosquito population and mitigate the risk of dengue transmission.
