On Valentine's Day, the Thane Traffic Police established an efficient green corridor to transport a donor heart from Thane to Mumbai. The critical movement, involving a 35km stretch, was completed with remarkable speed, overcoming typically heavy traffic congestion within Thane. This rapid transit allowed the organ to reach the recipient for a transplant surgery with a better chance of success.
The operation commenced with a mere 30-minute advance notice from Jupiter Hospital in Thane to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. A dedicated team of 25 traffic personnel was mobilized, ensuring an obstruction-free path. Medical professionals at Jupiter Hospital executed the organ retrieval and preservation protocols flawlessly, a crucial element for time-sensitive cardiac transplants.
