Telangana Polio Drive Exceeds Targets!

The statewide pulse polio immunisation programme in Telangana has recorded an impressive response. On its first day, the health department successfully administered the oral polio vaccine to over 38.9 lakh children, meeting 95.1% of the campaign's target. The initiative aims to immunise more than 40.9 lakh children under five years of age, reinforcing Telangana's commitment to remaining polio-free.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the public's participation, attributing the success to coordinated efforts. Rangareddy district achieved the highest coverage at 99%, followed closely by other districts. To ensure comprehensive reach, health officials will conduct a door-to-door campaign to vaccinate any children who missed the initial vaccination booths. This follow-up drive is being carried out under the guidance of the health minister.
