Telangana is strategically increasing its investment in healthcare, with a target to raise health expenditure from the current 4% to 8% of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) by 2047. Improved health outcomes are seen as central to this economic vision.
The state is reinforcing its healthcare infrastructure through a robust three-tier system. This includes 5,023 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs offering essential services, 184 Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad hospitals acting as referral centers, and a growing network of 35 teaching hospitals and 13 specialty institutions. Major projects, such as the new Osmania General Hospital and expansions at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, are underway.
Furthermore, Telangana is solidifying its position as an international medical tourism hub, attracting over 100,000 medical tourists yearly.
