Teen's Lungs Blackened by Vape Addiction

A distressing case highlights the severe health risks of vaping, as a 17-year-old boy developed a profound addiction starting at age 14. His habit escalated to using four disposable vapes weekly, leading to daily use. This addiction culminated in a medical emergency where his left lung collapsed, an event that recurred four more times over four months.

These repeated collapses necessitated multiple surgeries, including procedures to prevent further air leaks and fluid accumulation. During the third operation, surgeons discovered and removed damaged, blackened tissue from his lung, a consequence his mother attributes directly to his vaping. The family has chosen to bury this removed lung tissue as a memorial.

Now recovering and determined to raise awareness, the teen shares his harrowing experience to deter others, especially young people, from vaping.
