6 Apr
Summary
- A 19-year-old's lung collapsed due to vaping, doctors reportedly stated.
- He vaped constantly, starting at age 13, until his lung collapsed.
- He urges teens to quit vaping before it's too late after recovery.

Nathan Edmunds, now 19, began vaping at age 13, initially to fit in with friends, describing the habit as 'cool'. Over time, his vaping escalated to 'every waking moment,' using disposable devices before transitioning to refillable ones. He would refill his vape up to three times daily and vape approximately every five minutes.
His intense habit led to a severe health crisis on December 19, 2025, when he woke up experiencing intense chest pain. Rushed to the hospital, Nathan was diagnosed with a collapsed right lung. Doctors informed him that his vaping was the cause, explaining that vaping coats the lungs with oils.
Nathan spent four days in the hospital, where a chest drain was fitted to help his lung re-inflate. Fortunately, he did not require surgery as his lung healed quickly. Upon learning the cause of his hospitalization, Nathan immediately discarded his vape.
Having quit vaping for nearly two months, Nathan is now actively warning other teenagers about the dangers. He urges them to stop their vaping habits before experiencing severe consequences, emphasizing that the habit is not worth the risk.
