- He is crowdfunding for life-saving treatment abroad.

A 15-year-old boy from Sunderland, Jude Hazard, is in a critical condition after being diagnosed with Intimal Sarcoma, an extremely rare vascular cancer. His family reported that his breathlessness, which began in May, was initially thought to be asthma. He received an inhaler, but his symptoms persisted.
In July, a scan at Sunderland Hospital revealed an 8cm tumor on the back of his heart. He was transferred to Freeland Hospital in Newcastle for emergency surgery to remove the tumor. During the five-hour operation, Jude's heart stopped for two minutes.
Although surgeons removed a significant portion of the tumor, some cancerous cells remain in the lining of his left atrium. There are currently no further treatment options available in the UK for his condition. The family is actively crowdfunding to raise £75,000 for potentially life-saving treatment that is only available in Japan or America.
Jude, described as a bright, sociable, and courageous young man, is currently recovering and trying to enjoy his time with friends while awaiting news on overseas treatment possibilities.
