- She was initially paralyzed from the neck down and on a ventilator.
- Intensive rehabilitation led to significant recovery and first steps.

Morgan Lopez, a 13-year-old dancer from Rancho Cucamonga, has achieved a remarkable recovery, walking again after suffering a spinal stroke in May. The injury, sustained during a dance class headstand, led to neck pain, respiratory failure, and paralysis from the neck down. Initially on a ventilator, Morgan's parents were devastated by the prognosis that she might never move again.
Determined to see their daughter regain mobility, her parents enrolled her in intensive rehabilitation at Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. After weeks of therapy, doctors observed small improvements, with Morgan beginning to use her hand. This sparked hope for recovery.
On August 11, Morgan took her first steps since the incident, a moment filled with immense joy for her and her family. While currently using a wheelchair, she is actively engaged in activities and focused on her goal of returning to dance. Her dance team eagerly anticipates her return to the stage in January, and her father will participate in the Long Beach Marathon next month, pushing her wheelchair.
