- The Black Girl Joy Challenge supports young women with community project funding.

A remarkable initiative by the Black Girl Joy Challenge is empowering young women to transform their ideas into impactful community projects. Through this program, girls and young women aged 13 to 24 receive funding to create positive change and spread joy.
One standout recipient is 16-year-old Dylan Andrews from Atlanta. She utilized her $550 microgrant to launch a project focused on improving dental health among children in South Atlanta. Andrews personally handed out more than 100 dental care kits, equipping children with essential items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss.
Andrews aimed to instill healthy dental habits and foster brighter smiles, recognizing the limited access to dental care in many underserved areas. She made the learning process engaging by teaching proper brushing techniques through songs, ensuring children understood the basics of maintaining oral hygiene. The Black Girl Joy Challenge, founded in response to a study showing Black girls and women receiving only 1% of philanthropic dollars in the South, has funded 1,000 girls since 2020.
The initiative's participating states span from Texas to West Virginia. Andrews, aspiring to become a dentist, is already making a significant difference, one smile at a time, inspired by the joy she witnesses.
