Armuchee Elementary School teacher Hannah Nabors has shown remarkable resilience after losing her leg in a car crash with a drunk driver in February 2025. Supported by her students and colleagues, she fought to return to teaching and driving with a prosthetic leg, overcoming significant emotional and physical challenges. Nabors found a path forward by donating blood, an act of gratitude to the donors who saved her life. She now regularly hosts drives, inspired by the critical need for blood donations nationwide.
Blood Assurance, in partnership with Goodlabs, is now offering free blood testing to donors, a move designed to encourage more people to donate. This initiative, co-founded by Grant Brewster, provides valuable health panels that can be costly out-of-pocket, particularly for those underinsured or in the gig economy. Donors can also track their health trends via an online portal. Nabors herself recently underwent testing for iron and metabolic panels during a donation appointment, emphasizing the importance of health awareness for active individuals.
Beyond blood donation, Nabors has advocated for expanded prosthetic healthcare coverage by helping pass Senate Bill 503. She also recently completed the Boston Marathon. However, she finds profound fulfillment in the simple act of giving blood, feeling a deep connection to the community that supported her and a desire to offer others the gift of more time, just as she received.
