Taylor Farms issued a recall on Sunday for jalapeno products due to a significant salmonella outbreak. This action was prompted by another supplier's recall of peppers, which were connected to at least 345 salmonella cases across 27 states and resulted in 36 hospitalizations. Many recalled items, such as salsas and guacamole, were distributed to major retailers in roughly 20 states.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service also issued a warning about meat and poultry products containing these potentially contaminated jalapenos. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that the actual number of affected individuals is likely higher. Jalapenos from a farm in Sinaloa, Mexico, are suspected as the source of the outbreak.
