Tamil Nadu is set to conduct a statewide pulse polio immunisation campaign on June 28. The initiative aims to administer polio drops to an estimated 52.91 lakh children aged 0 to five years.
Over 43,051 immunisation centers have been established across the state. These include Primary Health Centres, government hospitals, anganwadi centres, and schools. The campaign emphasizes that children should receive the polio vaccine even if they have already been vaccinated according to the national schedule.
Special transit booths will operate at major bus terminals, railway stations, toll plazas, and airports to vaccinate travelers. Mobile medical teams will also reach children in remote, hard-to-reach, and tribal areas. More than two lakh health workers, anganwadi workers, teachers, and volunteers are engaged in this crucial public health effort.
