The NalamAI WhatsApp chatbot service will soon be available in all government hospitals throughout Tamil Nadu, as announced by Health Minister K.G. Arunraj. This digital service, designed to streamline patient interactions and reduce waiting times, was successfully piloted in Chennai's Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.
The state is also boosting healthcare coverage for beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. Their medical coverage will be raised from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh, providing enhanced financial support for medical needs.
Furthermore, several government hospitals are set to receive increased medical staffing. Specifically, the Hosur government hospital will see its doctor count rise from 27 to 36 and its nursing staff increase from 56 to 125. The region will also benefit from new medical infrastructure, including a cath lab for Krishnagiri district and ₹10 crore for the Uthangarai government hospital. Plans are also underway for a 100-bedded ESI hospital in Hosur.
In ongoing public health efforts, the Health Department is actively monitoring dengue cases and plans to appoint more checkers to combat mosquito breeding. The announcement also includes the deployment of 1,000 mobile clinics for residents in hilly areas.
