Tamil Nadu Exceeds Blood Donation Targets

Tamil Nadu has achieved a significant milestone in voluntary blood donation, surpassing its collection target for the 2025-2026 period. Government blood banks collected 4.51 lakh units of blood, exceeding the set goal of 4.50 lakh units. This success was largely due to the organization of 4,874 voluntary blood donation camps across the state.

During the 2025-2026 fiscal year, a total of 9.53 lakh units of blood were collected through both government and private blood banks. To further streamline blood management and public access, the "e-RaktKosh" web portal has been implemented. This platform provides real-time information on the availability of different blood groups, facilitating easier access for those in need.

In conjunction with these efforts, a new initiative was launched on World Blood Donor Day to register 100,000 new voluntary blood donors via the "e-RaktKosh" portal. A new website, www.tnsbtc.in, was also introduced by the Tamil Nadu State Blood Transfusion Council to promote voluntary blood donation awareness through social media. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to young and regular voluntary blood donors.
