Swine Flu Mimics Stomach Bug: Unusual Symptoms Emerge

Maharashtra has reported 303 laboratory-confirmed H1N1 (swine flu) cases in the current year. A distinct shift in symptoms is being observed, with some patients presenting with abdominal pain and diarrhea preceding typical respiratory ailments. This unusual pattern has been noted by physicians, even as the overall H1N1 illness pattern is largely considered unchanged by other specialists.

Of the total cases, 277 patients have recovered, and 26 are currently receiving hospital treatment without any reported deaths or patients on ventilators. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has the highest number of cases with 138, followed by Nagpur and Solapur. Health experts advise against self-medication and recommend prompt medical attention, especially for high-risk groups, while the state government monitors the virus for mutations.
