Two siblings from Atwa Baik village in Unnao's Ganjmuradabad block have died due to swine flu. They succumbed within a 24-hour period at a private hospital in Lucknow after testing positive for the H1N1 virus. The alarming deaths have prompted the health department to take immediate action.
The 50-year-old brother was admitted on August 30 with fever and breathing difficulties. His H1N1 diagnosis was confirmed on September 2, and he passed away later that night. His 56-year-old sister, admitted the same day with similar symptoms, also tested positive for H1N1 on September 2 and died on September 3.
In response to an email from the woman's son detailing the deaths and positive test reports, health officials initiated an investigation. On Sunday, samples were collected from 16 villagers who had been in contact with the deceased siblings. The additional chief medical officer stated that while a formal report is awaited, a medical team was dispatched, and suspected cases' samples were sent for testing.
