- Insisted on staying awake during the procedure to maintain control
- Quickly returned to filming Aarya to support her 500-member crew

In November 2025, acclaimed actress Sushmita Sen candidly discussed one of the most challenging phases of her life. While filming the final portions of her hit web series Aarya, Sen underwent angioplasty after doctors discovered a 95% blockage in one of her arteries.
Reflecting on this health scare, Sen shared that she insisted on staying awake throughout the procedure, driven by a deep need for control and awareness. "The control freak in me doesn't like losing consciousness," she explained, adding that her consciousness during the heart attack was a key factor in her survival.
Despite the medical emergency, Sen was determined to return to work as soon as possible. As the lead of Aarya, she felt a strong sense of responsibility to the 500-member crew, whose livelihoods depended on the show's production. "When you headline a show, it's not an ordinary job; you have the privilege of taking on the onus of a 500-member crew," she said. After 15 days of negotiations, Sen was allowed to go back and resume filming Aarya.
Aarya, a crime-thriller co-created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, has earned global recognition, including an International Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series. Sushmita's account of her surgery and swift return to work highlights not just her resilience, but also her deep commitment to the people behind the acclaimed show.
