Pregnant, No Bump, No Symptoms: Woman Gives Birth!
25 Jan
Summary
- Woman unknowingly carried baby to term with no bump.
- She experienced regular periods throughout the pregnancy.
- Doctors discovered 35-week pregnancy during pain assessment.

Keionna Dickerson, a 31-year-old from Milan, Tennessee, recently experienced a startling medical event when she sought hospital treatment for severe stomach pains. She was unaware she was pregnant and had experienced regular periods for the past nine months, with no visible baby bump.
Doctors discovered Dickerson was 35 weeks pregnant and in active labor. Her surprise was immense as she had no typical pregnancy symptoms. Hours after arriving at the emergency room, she welcomed a baby boy, Champion, following an emergency C-section due to the baby's declining heart rate.
This rare occurrence is known as a cryptic pregnancy, where individuals remain unaware of their pregnancy until late gestation or even delivery. Studies indicate that about one in 475 pregnancies go unnoticed until 20 weeks, and approximately one in 2,500 go undetected until birth.
Cryptic pregnancies can affect women who haven't experienced pregnancy before or those believing they are menopausal. Irregular menstrual cycles, often associated with conditions like PCOS, can further mask pregnancy signs. Some women may even continue to experience monthly bleeding throughout their gestation, making medical scans crucial for confirmation.
