Tillie Amartey, a 22-year-old known for her role in Waterloo Road and a past appearance on Strictly Come Dancing's Christmas special, has undergone surgery for varicose veins. She struggled for years with swollen veins, but a red carpet photograph that highlighted their visibility served as a turning point. Amartey realized the veins appeared 'scary' and decided to seek a solution. She opted for a procedure at VeinCentre, a leading UK clinic, which was completed in under an hour. She described the experience as a quick lunchtime treatment that did not disrupt her active lifestyle. The surgery, an endovenous laser ablation performed in Leeds, has left her thrilled with the results, noting her legs now feel less heavy. Amartey also shared that her grandfather also suffered from varicose veins, suggesting a potential genetic predisposition. The consultant vascular surgeon, Dominic Dodd, emphasized that varicose veins are common and not exclusive to older individuals, commending Amartey for raising awareness.
