Recent public exposures at Clemson University and Anderson University have been identified, involving 34 and 50 students respectively, increasing the risk of further spread. The outbreak, which began in October, is primarily centered in the northwestern part of the state.
Of the confirmed cases, a significant majority, 563, were unvaccinated. Federal health assistance of $1.4 million has been provided to the state to aid in curbing the transmission of the highly contagious virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is actively collaborating with state health officials.
