Construction is commencing on a long-planned urgent and primary care centre in Sooke, following the approval of building permits. The facility, located at 2101 Sitka Court, will be integrated into a six-storey development that combines health-care services with residential units. This significant project is a joint venture between the District of Sooke, Catalyst Community Developments, Island Health, and BC Housing's BC Builds program.
Owned and operated by Island Health, the centre aims to provide timely, team-based care by co-locating physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. This development addresses the growing demand for health services in Sooke and surrounding areas, complementing existing clinics like the West Coast Family Medical Clinic. The province is contributing approximately $8 million in capital funding for the centre, which is part of a broader strategy to expand primary care access across British Columbia.
