Mum Urges 'Don't Take No' After Son's Cancer Death
5 Apr
Summary
- Son died from testicular cancer at age 22.
- Initial diagnosis was an infection, delaying treatment.
- High survival rate for early-detected testicular cancer.

Clare Summers-Taylor, 58, is speaking out after her 22-year-old son, Zac Summers-Cameron, died from testicular cancer in November 2025. Zac first experienced pain and swelling in June 2024 but was initially diagnosed with an infection and prescribed antibiotics. His condition worsened over the next few months.
Despite multiple GP visits and emergency room trips, a scan was not initially ordered. Zac's mother pushed for a private ultrasound on September 18, 2024, which led to his admission to Cheltenham General Hospital on September 23. A CT scan on September 27 revealed stage three testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs, liver, and abdomen.
Zac underwent 15 months of aggressive treatment, including chemotherapy and stem-cell transplants, but tragically passed away on November 27, 2025. His mother emphasizes that early detection of testicular cancer offers a 96 percent survival rate and implores others to be persistent with medical professionals.
Before his death, Zac pursued his passions, including traveling to Amsterdam and supporting his vintage clothing business, Forty Four Clothing. An event, 'Zac's 44 Legacy Memorial Match Charity Day,' was scheduled for April 4 to raise funds for Maggies Centres.
