Celebrities are frequently seen posing with cigarettes, and depictions of tobacco use are prevalent in popular films and television shows, such as a recent series about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.

Anti-smoking advocates express serious concern that this trend could reintroduce nicotine addiction to younger generations and undermine cessation efforts. They point to data showing that the glamorization of smoking in media significantly increases the likelihood of young people using tobacco products. This resurgence is partly attributed to the return of 1990s and early 2000s aesthetics, seen as an act of rebellion against social media pressures.
