Inadequate Care Agency to Cease Operations
2 May
Summary
- Care Staff Services in Slough will close after failing two inspections.
- 108 people were left at significant risk of harm by the agency.
- Leaders failed to manage risks, prompting closure and patient reassignment.

A care agency in Slough, Berkshire, known as Care Staff Services, is set to close after receiving a second consecutive inadequate rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This rating followed an inspection conducted in January and February, with results published recently. The agency was responsible for providing care to 108 people in their own homes.
The CQC highlighted significant safety concerns, particularly a lack of robust medication systems, which placed individuals at a "significant risk of harm." Inspectors also noted insufficient guidance for staff on when to call emergency services. Leaders at the agency were criticized for not adequately understanding the risks their services posed.
Care Staff Services has informed the CQC of its decision to close. Slough Borough Council is actively coordinating to secure alternative care arrangements for all affected individuals. The CQC stated it will maintain oversight throughout this transition period.
