Six-time Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy, aged 49, has shared his private battle with stage 4 prostate cancer, diagnosed in September 2023. This profound news was compounded when his wife, Lady Sarra, received her own diagnosis of multiple sclerosis just days later. The couple intentionally kept these life-altering events confidential for nearly a year.

During this period, the Hoy family has focused on how to integrate these health challenges into their lives, particularly for their two children. Lady Sarra has emphasized creating an environment where their children can understand and grow with the situation, rather than be overwhelmed by fear. Hoy himself disclosed his ongoing chemotherapy treatment in February 2024.

Officially revealing the terminal nature of his cancer in October 2024, Sir Chris was given a prognosis of two to four years.
