Shropshire NHS Trusts Unite Under New Group Name
21 Mar
Summary
- Two Shropshire NHS trusts will form a new group starting April 1.
- The new entity will be called Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group.
- The group aims to improve patient care and staff experience through joint working.

Starting April 1, two Shropshire-based NHS trusts will operate under a new collective identity. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust (SaTH) and Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (Shropcom) will be known as the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group.
This new group structure does not involve a merger of the trusts but will see their senior leadership teams integrated. The initiative aims to accelerate joint working, thereby improving patient care and the overall experience for healthcare staff.
Jo Williams, the group's chief executive, emphasized that the shared identity is intended to promote a unified voice and purpose, facilitating enhanced collaboration. While the group name is new, the legal entities of SaTH and Shropcom will remain. A sensible and value-driven approach will be taken to roll out the new name gradually.
Priorities for the new group include enhancing urgent and emergency care services, connecting digital systems, and bringing healthcare services closer to patients' homes. Early benefits are already being observed, such as improved resilience for smaller services and better access to clinical advice and professional support. The group is committed to building on this momentum and sharing its progress.
