- The facility will feature three new treatment rooms and refurbished clinic spaces.
- A minimally invasive procedure, TULA, will be introduced for tissue removal.

A new urology investigation unit is under construction at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with an expected opening in April. This dedicated facility will house three new treatment rooms specifically for urology investigations and treatments, including prostate biopsies and bladder examinations.
The unit is a result of investment funded by NHS England's elective care capital incentive scheme. Alongside the new procedure rooms, seven existing clinic rooms are being fully refurbished to create a more comfortable and efficient environment. The new facility will also introduce Trans Urethral Laser Ablation (TULA), a minimally invasive technique for tissue removal that avoids general anesthesia, marking a significant advancement in patient care.
Praveen Pillai, clinical lead for urology, expressed enthusiasm for the unit's opening. He stated that consolidating diagnostic and treatment facilities in one purpose-built area will enhance the patient experience and support more efficient, timely care, representing a major step forward for the service.
