10 Oct
Summary
- Temporary postings issued to service PGs completing MD/MS in October 2026.
- Postings were based on top three choices due to COVID-19 academic schedule delays.
- Regular counseling will be conducted soon based on Civil Medical List seniority.

Health Minister K.G. Arunraj has issued a statement clarifying temporary postings for service postgraduates (PGs) expected to complete their MD/MS courses in October 2026. These postings were implemented as an immediate solution to address issues arising from academic and counseling schedule delays, significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years.
Arunraj explained that temporary assignments were necessary to prevent complications in salary disbursement and other service procedures, which occurred previously when counseling was delayed. The temporary postings were allocated based on the top three location choices provided by the doctors on their application forms. The government will issue guidelines to ensure uninterrupted salary payments from the first month of duty.
Reiterating that this is a temporary administrative measure, the minister confirmed that all positions filled through these temporary postings will be officially notified and filled during the upcoming regular counseling. This counseling will be conducted transparently and at the earliest, based on the Civil Medical List (CML) and seniority. Doctors holding temporary postings can participate in the counseling without hindrance, retaining their eligibility to choose preferred postings.
