18 Sep
Summary
- Mom nearly died from sepsis caused by pneumonia.
- She underwent leg, toe, and finger amputations.
- She recovered and completed a 10K run.

In May 2023, a mother of two from Sheffield, UK, experienced a harrowing ordeal after initially believing she had a severe cold. Her condition rapidly deteriorated, revealing symptoms of sepsis, a life-threatening reaction to infection. Medics suspected sepsis upon arrival at the hospital, and tragically, she suffered cardiac arrest, requiring three minutes of CPR to be revived.
During her hospitalization, she developed complications that led to restricted blood flow in her extremities. This resulted in the amputation of her right leg below the knee, the toes on her left foot, and most of her fingers. She also sustained lasting damage to her lung and kidney function.
Despite these profound challenges, her recovery journey has been remarkable. After extensive physiotherapy and strength training, she achieved a significant personal milestone by completing a 10K run in September 2025. She has also embarked on a new career path, now working as a teacher's aide at her daughter's school.
