A man from Siberia experienced severe headaches and deteriorating vision for four months, unaware that a plant seed had germinated within his eye. Maxim Sleptsov, 42, had encountered a tree branch during a summer trip, which lodged a seed in his eye. Initially dismissing the discomfort as a minor injury, his symptoms progressively worsened, leading to persistent migraines.
After seeking medical attention in Yakutsk, ophthalmologists discovered the unusual cause: the seed had sprouted, with its root penetrating the conjunctiva by nearly 3mm. The seed was surgically removed under local anesthetic. The man reported immediate relief from his headaches following the procedure.
