In March 2023, Camila and Rob Obi-Tabot faced a devastating diagnosis when their son, Seba, then two months old, was found to have acute myelogenous leukemia. After initial symptoms including a high white blood cell count, Seba began intensive chemotherapy at Boston Children's Hospital. He spent five months undergoing treatment, with his family providing unwavering support.
By October 2023, Seba was cancer-free and discharged from the hospital, a moment of immense triumph for the family. Inspired by their journey and a desire to support others, they decided to participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). They formed 'Team Guerreros por Seba,' named after their resilient son.
Camila learned to ride a bike for the event, while Rob also trained. Their participation fuels donations to Dr. Jessica Pollard's research program at Dana-Farber and the Pediatric Patient Assistance Fund. Seba is now thriving, with check-ups every six months, and the family considers the PMC an annual tradition.
This year, as Rob and Camila prepare for their second PMC in August 2024, they ride with gratitude. Their efforts aim to contribute to lifesaving breakthroughs, ensuring that other families facing similar battles receive the care and support they need. 100% of rider-raised funds go directly to Dana-Farber.
