A 47-year-old senior scientist at the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in Bengaluru passed away tragically after allegedly dying by suicide. The incident occurred last week when the scientist jumped from a residential building in Seegehalli. His family has come forward with allegations that sustained work-related stress and immense mental pressure may have contributed to his death.
The scientist, who was associated with the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk2 programme, had reportedly been experiencing severe work-related stress for over a month. According to his family, this prolonged pressure negatively affected his mental health, leading him to consult specialists. He was diagnosed with a depressive episode and prescribed medication.
Despite seeking medical assistance, his family claims the workplace pressure persisted. The incident occurred on October 21st, when he reportedly jumped from the stairwell landing of his apartment building. He sustained critical injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Police have registered an Unnatural Death Report and are investigating the family's allegations.
However, the ADA has denied awareness of any excessive work pressure. Krishna Rajendra, Director of Administration and HR at ADA, stated that the organization had not been informed of any difficulties and that colleagues also seemed unaware. He suggested that health-related factors might have played a role, while acknowledging work pressure is part of meeting project deadlines. The ADA also mentioned organizing mental stress management programs.
